My favorite performances from last night's MTV Video Music Awards. This felt like a personal moment from Kanye West & I didn't mind the Autotune effect on his voice this time. The track Love Lockdown is suppose to be featured on 'Ye's upcoming fourth album (maybe due this December).
Swagger Like Us (Kanye, Jay-Z, Weezy, T.I.)Hmmmmmm, I don't know about most but I'm gettin' sick of that vocoder effect. I mean...I AM sick of it. PLUS it seems like rappers don't come correct on tracks like they use to. They go into the studio & give half ass efforts & everyone loves it (or enough to encourage more), this track is no different. Someone tell me why the hell Jay-Z is doin the sing songish thing on the track, not to mention Lil Wayne's droolish slur. GET THE HELL OUTTA THE STUDIO WITH THAT SH
Hov has indeed mastered the art of selling Hip Hop to white people. BBC covered the recent Glastonbury Festival where Jay-Z took the stage, but in an unconventional way. The Jigga-Man opened up his set playing guitar & sang a track by Oasis (Wonderwall), & the crowd loved it (score one for Jay-Z)! Next, Jay went into his hit "99Problems" (produced by white producer extraordinaire Rick Rubin) & others, mixed with music not common to the Hip Hop genre. A-Trak (DJ to Kanye West) has released a track session project for Nike called "Running Man" (available on iTunes). Amidst the project is a track featuring Lupe Fiasco called "Me & My Sneakers". I loved the track, I even loaded it into my iPod for gym sessions. Glorie, load the track for the people please......
